Summer goals.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Without a working camera, I sometimes feel like it's pointless to post with just iPhone pictures. And I normally forget to take them with my phone, anway.

I have a few goals for this summer, some that I've already started and made progess on, and some that still need my attention!

1) I want to spend as much time outdoors as possible. Olivia loves to play outside, so that shouldn't be an issue. Plus, I want to keep this tan going that I started over the weekend!

2) I need to lose a few pounds! My jeans are getting a little tight lately with all these summer parties and vacations. And I refuse to spend unnecessary money on new jeans because I'm being lazy! I've always cared about health, time to start putting it back into practice.

3) Doing all the fun things with Olivia that I remember doing and loving as a kid. I want to spend a lot of time at the beach, at my grandma's pool, and parks. I would loooove to take her to Sea World, Moody Gardens, and the Children's Museum. We probably won't make all of those, but I'd like to try :)

This past weekend, which just happened to be Memorial Day Weekend, we went with Luis's family to Canyon Lake. This was my first trip/weekend away from Olivia and it was so hard to drop her off! I totally cried when it hit me that I wouldn't be putting her to bed for two nights in a row.

We definitely had a good time, though. When we got there, we all changed into our suits and headed for the lake. Afterwards, we were all starving and decided to go to Lucky's, a little restaurant we loved on our last adult trip 2 years ago when I was pregnant with Olivia. The food wasn't as good as any of us remembered, but it was still a good time.

Sunday, we pretty much devoted the entire day to floating the river. I got some much needed sun! I'm pretty much one of the pastiest people I know, so now I'm actually starting to look like a normal person, ha!

Monday morning we packed our stuff, checked out of the cabins, grabbed some Cracker Barrel for breakfast, and did a little outlet shopping. I can see how people can make a full day of that! But Luis and I were ready to get home to Olivia, so we just got her a few things from Gap Kids, Luis some shoes from Nike, and me a few things from American Eagle.

It was hard to go back to our regular day-to-day schedule today. And I still haven't totally unpacked. It was nice to get away for a little bit. And we'll be doing it all over again, only WITH kids, in a few weeks!

This was such a fun (but busy) weekend! Unfortunately, I forgot to get pictures of most of it :(

On Saturday, I attended my friend Clarissa's baby shower. She's due with baby Kamryn in August. The shower was super cute and Kamryn is obviously already loved and spoiled by the amount of gifts she received. As a stylist, I just HAD to get her some Paul Mitchell baby shampoo. It's Olivia's favorite.

Saturday evening Olivia and I went to Houston with Luis to drop off a package. We ended up stopping by one of the car meets Luis likes to go to. Although I'm not into cars, it was cool to see where he likes to go hangout. And there were A LOT of cars there.

Sunday morning we attended the annual church cookoff. There was a short service outside so that all the cooks were able to listen as well. Last year, our team (Luis's family's team, we didn't actually cook) won Grand Champion and we did it again this year! Olivia had a blast playing with all the kids, even though we were sweating our butts off the whole time.

After church, we headed to our nephew, Luke's, baseball game. We showed up late because Olivia was napping in the car and we didn't want to wake her. But the part of the game we caught was good! Next, we made our way to Cherry Berry, the new self-serve frozen yogurt shop in town. This is the second time we've taken Olivia, and the first time that we got her a bowl for herself. She didn't eat much of the frozen yogurt, just the sprinkles on top. Ha!

Then we came home, relaxed a bit, and ordered pizza. I finished the night with Khloe and Lamar, a glass of wine, a shower, and then bed.

This coming weekend, it looks like we might be planning an adult overnight trip to Moody Gardens! Hopefully Olivia's grandma is willing to babysit :)

Yesterday was a fun filled day for Olivia. Her friend (and future husband,) Camden, came and spent most of the day with us. They interacted so well. I was so proud! Camden will soon be spending every Wednesday with us, so it was fun to have a test run!

Cooking in Olivia's kitchen :)

Grubbin' on some watermelon.

Playing outside.
After Camden left, Olivia's cousins, Aaron and Isaiah, came over for a bit. She's always excited when they're around.

Aaron and Olivia. Tried to get Isaiah in but he would't cooperate.

The three youngest cousins.

For dinner we went to a local taco stand. I had a delicious baked potato that Olivia and I shared. We sat outside and got to enjoy some of this gorgeous weather we've been having.

During dinner. Cutest kids ever? Ha!
We ended the night like every other night, with a bubble bath. Only this time, Olivia couldn't wait to get it. I started her water and then went to the living room to grab something. When I came back, she was already in the tub, shoes and all!

Have a good weekend, y'all!

Mother's Day weekend :)

Before I had Olivia, I never really put a whole lot of thought into Mother's Day. Sure, I usually bought my mom a small gift and card. But becoming a mother myself completely changed everything. We do so much! And yes, that's part of our responsibilty and we have to do it, but we also LOVE to do. And we rarely, if ever, ask for anything in return. It's so nice that someone took aside a day to recognize that. And I also don't think we truly ever appreciate our own mothers until we have children of our own, making Mother's Day even more special.

Saturday night, Luis, Olivia, and I met my mom's whole side of the family (aside from my two cousins) at Red Lobster for dinner. I honestly don't remember the last time we all got together like that. It usually doesn't even happen for Christmas! It was nice and I really enjoyed the time spent with them. I had pictures done of my sister, Olivia, and me for my mom last month. We were able to keep it a secret and she was completely surprised!

This is my sister, Olivia, my mom, myself, and my mammaw outside of Red Lobster.

Me with Olivia and Luis. (Luis really isn't as dark as he looks in the picture! ha.)

Sunday morning we went to church. After service, all of the children were given a rose to go take to their mom's. Well, Olivia brought me mine, then turned around, ran back to the front, got ANOTHER rose and brought it back to me as well. Ha! Even at 18 months old, she still knows how to make me feel like a special mom :)

Olivia and me after church, with one of my two roses :)

My Mother's Day gift from Luis- a purse that I've been eyeing.

And I just had to add this hilarious picture of Abby that I caught yesterday while she was sleeping :)

Exactly 18 months ago...

I gave birth to a beautiful little girl that has brought more love and meaning into my life than I could have ever imagined. It's hard to believe how much she's changed in looks since that day. She's learned so much and is continuing to develope unto her own unique person. I know it's cliche to say that words can't describe how much I care about her, but it's true. She's the most awesome person in the world.

Play date!

Yesterday two of our dearest friends, Cherish and Camden, came over to play! Cherish has been a friend of mine since the SIXTH GRADE. Crazy how time flies. Her son, Camden, is just a month and a half older than Olivia. They're getting married some day :)

Doesn't he look totally smitten??

On a different subject, Luis and I started a new workout with his brother and sister in-law. I'm kind of excited, but then again, I'm not a huge fan of working out. I've pretty much come to terms with my post-pregnancy body. I mean instead of beating myself up over not losing the remaining 5 pounds, shouldn't I just be grateful I can wear a size 4 without having to work at it? So I'm totally just being a follower when it comes to this workout. I hate to be left out. If some good comes from it, so be it, but I'm not going to have any crazy expectations. But some toned arms would look pretty good in my wedding dress!

Yes, that's the man I'm marrying.
