Memorial Day.

Hope everyone had a fun, safe holiday. :)

New tradition.

For Aaron's 4th birthday, we all went to Chuck E Cheese. Ever since then (November), Olivia has wanted to go. Seriously, every week she asks us to go to the "purple walmart." No idea why she calls it that. Ha.

So we decided to celebrate the end of the school year, we would take her and Aaron. She loved it and I think we'll make it an end of the year tradition. :)

Summer foods.

As I was making my grocery list today, I realized just how different we eat in the summer than we do during the colder months.

Some of my personal summer favorites:
Fruit.
(Especially watermelon and grapes.)
Sandwiches.
Tuna salad made with just grapes and mayo.
Spinach salads.
Tacos.
Burgers.
Homemade salsa and tortilla chips.

So, to any of you reading, what are your summer food essentials?

Start of summer.

So it's kind of officially summer for us. We started it off with a pool day on Tuesday and then had Olivia's graduation ceremony that evening at her school. They performed a few songs (you know, the best 2-4 year olds can perform) and received their certificates.

Today was her official last day of school. They had a splash day and Olivia seemed to have had a blast because her hair was a wet mess and she was exhausted when I picked her up. She went straight to sleep when we got home and she didn't wake up until over 3 hours later.

I am so excited about this summer. It's going to be a busy one. We have the gym almost every morning, and then in two weeks Olivia will start swimming lessons twice a week. On June 21st, Luis and I leave for Mexico for 5 days for his sister's wedding. Then there's the fourth of July, a few family birthdays, my bridal shower in August, and then school will be right around the corner. Seriously, this year has flown so far; I'm sure the summer is going to go by even quicker.

Bring on the water, sunscreen, fresh fruit, and bare feet. Summer, we're ready for you.

Perfect Saturday.

We slept in til about 9:30 this morning and then took our time fully getting up. We got dressed to go for a run and I managed to get through 3/4 of a mile before Olivia decided she had had enough. So we came back to the house and sat on the front porch while Luis finished up.

Then we went to pick up some Mexican food for breakfast and took it to Luis's mom's to eat. Did y'all know Mexican restaurants have the best oatmeal? Cause they do.

After breakfast, Luis cleaned out Olivia's little kiddie pool from last summer and filled it up for her. He went to work for a bit, and Olivia and I stayed outside. She played in her pool and I got some sun.

She loved her pool. It was so much fun watching her play this year now that she can climb up on the slide by herself. She wore herself out and took a 3 hour nap! And I kinda took a little nap also. :)

Once Luis got home, we all got changed and went to The Children's Place to grab a few things for Olivia. She got a white shirt for tie dye day at school on Monday, a new shirt to wear for her last day of school on Wednesday, and two new bikinis for when she starts swimming lessons in a couple weeks.

We ended the evening going out for Italian food and then driving around listening to "Something like Olivia" by John Mayer on repeat because Olivia kept wanting to hear "her" song. Ha.

P.S. We finally got around to getting serious about potty training on Thursday. I got a poster board and put "Olivia's potty board" in glittery letters and let her pick out some stickers. Every time she goes potty on the big potty she gets a sticker. After a rough day yesterday, she has done an awesome job today. No accidents and 10 new stickers today. Woo!

Mother's Day weekend.

We had a nice relaxing weekend. Relaxing for us, anyway. I got my gifts early- a new cell phone case and a book. I was also supposed to get a tattoo (I want an olive tree on my arm for Olivia) but Olivia came home from school Friday afternoon running a fever. So we put a Stoffer's lasagna in the oven and watched TV/read all evening. Saturday was mostly spent at home and then the three of us went to dinner and then attended a small birthday get together for Luis's nephew. On Mother's day, we slept in and then headed to IHOP for brunch. After brunch we headed to my mom's and spent a few hours with them. On our way back home we went to a craft show and bought a few goodies and then ended the evening eating Church's Chicken on the back porch at Luis's mom's.

I can't even begin to express how much I love being a mom- Olivia's mom. I know it's cliche, but she is the best, most rewarding thing that has ever happened to me. Being a mom is hard work, but she is so completely worth it.

Happy list.

Making me happy right now:

1) The Avengers. Omg, so good! Luis has made a complete nerd out of me in that area and I'm oh so glad he did. We watched Thor last night because it was the only one we hadn't seen yet. Thank goodness we did!

2) I know it goes without saying that Olivia makes me happy, but my goodness, that girl just fills my heart with so much joy. I just love all the adorable things she's saying and how she always makes me laugh. How she loves to cuddle on the couch in the mornings and how when she's sad all she has to say is "Mama, I want you" and I just melt. She's perfect.

3) Tanning. I know, I know. I'm so against paying for skin cancer. But what's a girl to do? I've gotta be in a bikini in Mexico in just over a month, I can't go looking like Snow White!

4) That our wedding is just a little over 5 months away! I cannot wait to be married. And I also can't wait to start adding to our family.

5) The new muscles I'm starting to see in my body. I know I've said a hundred times how much I hate working out, but it's kind of grown on me. And now that I'm starting to see a little muscle definition, I'm hooked. I have never had any sort of visible muscles in my life so this is a pretty big deal. Totally worth being sore every day for the past 3 weeks.

What's making you happy right now?
